1201rosenberg.jpg“CSI” actress Marg Helgenberger and husband Alan Rosenberg have announced they are separating.
A rep released a statement to “Extra” saying, “After 19 years of marriage, Marg and Alan have decided to take some time apart. They love and respect each other and remain committed to their family.”
Emmy winner Helgenberger recently celebrated her 50th birthday, and it was revealed to the National Enquirer that she left Rosenberg. A source told the Enquirer, “Marg hasn’t been happy for a long time, and as 50 approached she finally told Alan she wanted to start the second half of her life alone.”
They have an 18-year-old son, Hugh. The source also said they don’t want to have a nasty custody battle, “But both she and Alan love their son and want to minimize any trauma the split would have on him. They’re excellent parents, but they just came to the decision that their lives together were no longer working.”
Helgenberger and Rosenberg, who is president of the Screen Actors Guild, married in September 1989.

This is shocking! Anyway, if this will make her happy, I won’t feel too sorry for her, afterall it’s a decision they make after 19 years of marriage.

I’ve already said my opinion about that and i don’t want to repeat myself. And besides who we are to judge other people, right …? I will always love Marg, with or without Alan, with someone else or just single, it doesn’t mean much to me. She deserves to be happy and enjoys her life and if this is the way that helps her to sort things out i’d go for it. I wish Marg all the best.
JO Says:
I figured it would happen, but as long as she’s happy good luck to them both.

I am still in shock!! They always seemed so enamored with each other, and complemented each other so well. When the NE printed the story I thought it was so ridiculous.. Is anyone else baffled by this? I’m just hoping that it is some type of publicity stunt to gain sympathy for Alan in regards to the possible SAG strike.. *fingers crossed*
Erica Says:
Marg and Alan wouldn’t do that for a stunt, especially not to Hugh. Both of them have a lot going on in their lives right now and if they think some time apart will help them figure things out, then people need to respect them and give them some space.
Amanda Says:
Erica, I know you are right-it was just wishful thinking.. They just seem to fit, you know? (But afterall, that is an outsider looking in…) Marg seems like such a great person, and obviously if this decision makes her happy, then it should be respected as you said. As a child of divorce, I can truly say that I respect Marg on so many levels for sacrificing her happiness and waiting for Hughie to get to college. Hopefully everything works out for all of them and I wish them all the best..
Erica Says:
I understand. A lot of people didn’t want to believe it when it was first reported (including me), but unfortunately it is indeed true. I’m sorry you had to suffer from a similar situation. I guess all we can do is remain loyal fans and keep supporting the both of them. :)
