Laurence Fishburne confirmed to join CSI

According to both CBS and Associated Press, actor Laurence Fishburne, one of whose most famous characters played is Morpheus from the Matrix series, is confirmed to join CSI. AP published a news article titled ‘CSI’ gets its man: Laurence Fishburne joins cast earlier this evening, and CBS is going to have a press conference for Fishburne, CSI executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar. The tenth highest paid primetime TV actor

According to the newest TV Guide (dated August 18, 2008), Marg is the tenth highest paid primetime TV actor with $375,000 per episode while her CSI co-star, William Petersen, ranks #2 with $600,000 per episode. Marg ranks #4 among actresses. The actresses before her are Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU), Julie Karvner (The Simpsons) and Nancy Cartwright (The Simpsons). Marg renews CSI contract

According to USA Today, Marg has renewed her contract with CSI for 2 more years:Marg Helgenberger, co-star of CBS’ top-rated drama CSI, renewed her contract with the show in a two-year deal. Helgenberger, who plays Catherine Willows, was the last of the major cast members to re-sign except for Gary Dourdan, whose Warrick Brown exits with tonight’s season finale (9 ET/PT).For more details, check out USA Today and TV Squad.

It was followed by fellow CBS procedural, Without A Trace, with 15.4 million. In its 9-10pm bracket, CSI was well ahead of runner-up Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader, which had 10.25 million.(Spoiler warning)CBS will be hoping to sustain the momentum of CSI’s triumphant post-strike comeback with tonight’s episode, “A Thousand Days on Earth.” Tonight’s case has a particularly strong emotional pull on Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) as they look into the disturbing death of an unidentified three-year old girl. Catherine becomes personally invested in the case of the girl found murdered behind a comedy joint.As we’ve previously reported, the story begins with an arrogant and tacky comedian delivering his act at a comedy club.
