Where does one start thanking you for the 25+ years of enjoyment you have provided me with your amazing grace, style and talent? It is a daunting task. I'll start at the beginning of my awareness of your existence.

Going to college in the morning and working in the afternoon, I had little time for my mother’s soaps. That was until one fateful day I happened to glance at the television while “Ryan’s Hope” was on. I saw a redhead whose presence so electrified and captivated my attention that I couldn’t help but want to see more of her beautiful visage. It took me weeks to find the name of that remarkable woman. I was beside myself with joy when I finally discovered Kate Mulgrew’s name.

Joking! Of course it was you Marg. I’ve had many dalliances over the years when another has temporarily piqued my curiosity. You have been the only one that has continually enthralled me throughout the years.

I enjoyed the thought you were my little secret because of your relatively low profile, at least until you started working on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Even with your elevated celebrity status, you are one of the very few people that it is almost impossible to find any negative press. That speaks impressively to the wonderful person you are as does your devotion to charitable causes you hold dear. As great as your talent is, it pale in comparison to you as a shining example as a caring person.

Every time I spotted one of your performances, it lifted my heart. Even with less than stellar writing, you brought your characters to life. I loved your over the top performance in “The Cowboy Way”, your subtle but powerful role in “Fire Down Below” and your remarkable performances on “ER”. I could go on and on but for brevity’s sake (I know, too late), I’ll only mention one more of your quintessential performance.

To me, your most powerful performance that showcased your amazing talent was the CSI story arc dealing with the death of Sam Braun. I know it was just a show but I almost became physically ill seeing how you dealt with Catherine’s possible rape after being drugged. The nuances you brought to that performance shook me to the core. I still get a bit uncomfortable watching those scenes.

In summation, thank you for your magnificent performances through the years, leading by example of how to be a good person and doing it with such grace and style. Have a wonderful birthday and many more. I don’t know what I would do without your performances and gentle influence in my life.

The first time I heard your name in October 2007, I was going through a pretty rough patch at the time, my aunty had been diagnosed with cancer and she only had a few weeks left and I ended up doing a whole load of research on all sorts of cancer, and your name popped up on a few websites. I ended up reading an interview that you had given about your mothers battle, and you amazed me with your strength at coping with something like that. I want to thank you for inspiring me to do so much towards helping to find a cure for the disease.

I guess the next time I really came across your name was when I began watching CSI in December 2008. I didn't even click that you were the same person I had read about the year before. I think now I have seen every episode of CSI... I sit up til 5am to watch the new season 10 episodes, because they are absolutely fantastic. I have also been introduced to the world of China Beach recently due to one of your many fan sites, and I have to say its amazing how you have gone from the character of K.C to the character of Catherine Willows... The 2 roles are just so different but so brilliantly portrayed.

I cannot even begin to explain what an influence and inspiration you've been to me. I discovered CSI when I was going through a very hard time in my life.I was (and still am) battling a drug addiction. I'd just gotten out of jail and seperated from my abusive husband. I felt I identified in a way with your character. You're an amazing actress, and since discovering CSI (and you) you've helped me through some very hard times. I read an article you wrote for something... where you talked about your faith and about your dad's death and your mom's struggle and it just amazed me. To know that you also went through some very hard times and you came out such an amazing, talented, sweet, caring, and giving person. You give me hope for my future, and Catherine and CSI give me an escape from real life. That may sound weird,considering the subject matter that the show deals with, but I love the characters, the fight for justice, the courage, just everything.

I only discovered CSI two summers ago, and since then, I have been hooked. But of the reason is because the amazing acting of yours. You capture the role of Catherine so perfectly and it is a joy to watch you each week, and to discover new treasures that you have done in the past.

I learned about your mother's battle with breast cancer, and it's very inspiring. You see, my best friend's mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. This time, she is going through six months of chemotherapy and is having a double mastectomy. It's hard watching them go through the battle, but I have nothing but love and respect for them. Mary Ann is a fighter, and she is going to beat this. She's scared, but she shows nothing but grace through this whole process.

Thank you for your work on finding a cure, whether it is through designing jeans or What a Pair! It means a lot to families who are affected by breast cancer. Thank you also for being such a great, unselfish actress. It's nice to be able to have a role model who is drama-free and beyond nice.

I don't even know where to begin. It's times like these that my vocabulary fails and words become inadequate. My name is Michelle and I'm now 17. I've been ill for a while, and sometimes the simplest things bring me joy. CSI is one of those things.

The show has been a part of my life for almost a decade now. Ever since I was seven, I've been infatuated with the show. Obviously, forensic science has a hand in that infatuation, but one of the main things that's pulled me in from the beginning is your strength as an actress. Very few actresses can truly make you feel with only an expression. For me, you are one of those actresses. You are the heart and soul of that show. I am so inspired by your strength and spirit.

I also continue to be amazed by your work towards Breast Cancer research. I had my first scare at 13 and every year since has been a cycle. Self-exam, ultrasound, biopsy (if necessary) and surgery to remove the tumor. So far they've been benign, but I always wonder when my luck will run out. There's definitely a history in my family and it scares me, so the cause is very close to my heart. It's wonderful to see a celebrity using their fame to bring awareness to such an important cause.

Anyway, I won't drag this out. I just wanted to thank you. I'm working towards a degree for a career in criminalistics and you've had a hand in that. My mother was a victim of rape and she lives every day with the fact that the men were never brought to justice. I can't fix that, but if I can bring even one rapist to justice, all the emotional turmoil that comes with the job will be worth it.

Thank you for everything you've done for me, and for continuing to inspire so many. You're beautiful, inside and out. I hope you have a wonderful birthday.
